For over two years, Keene Village Plastics has worked with FibreTuff Medical Biopolymers, LLC to produce innovative PAPC filaments. After a couple of years of adjustments, both companies entered into an exclusive 1-year agreement to get the PAPC filament to the medical market for 3D printing. “The FibreTuff PAPC has been formulated to pass the chemical tests performed by NAMSA for Class I medical applications,” says Robert Joyce, President of FibreTuff Medical Biopolymers, LLC. The PAPC will soon be tested for USP Class VI approval and according to Joyce expected to create new applications and markets in the medical industry. Furthermore, Joyce says the company is targeting functional parts that require biocompatibility with specific applications that could require electronic printed circuits.
Precision and quality are a goal for both companies in teaming up to produce 3D printed parts for the medical industry. Tom Hughes, the CEO of FibreTuff Medical Biopolymers described the PAPC bar stock as a most exciting new product for CNC machining small parts with impressive accuracy. Hughes also promoted the PAPC as a cost reduction versus other highly engineered resins already in the 3D printing market.
FibreTuff Medical Biopolymers and Keene Village Plastics are poised to produce exceptional 3D printed parts for the medical market from specialty PAPC compounds that are biocompatible in a state of the art filament production facility.
